Does anyone know what other FIATs got the same gearbox as a 99 Punto HGT? My brother-in-law's is starting to make nasty noises when going between 2nd & 3rd (both ways) so we suspect the synchro may be on the way out. Just out of interest, an Alfa 156 V6 box wouldn't fit would it? Andy
Hi folks Don't often come to this bit of the forum but I find myself doing a cambelt and variator change on an '02 Punto 1.8 HGT. The procedure seems all OK (I've done quite a few other Fiats now, generally 500s, Pandas, older Lampredi-based engines (e.g. Bravo/Brava 1600), and Alfa 1750 TBi - Pratola engine so similar architecture).
Hi ive came to the point were i want a new car. Two cars seem to take my fancy, thay are the punto Hgt and the Gt! Im undecide of what i want! i like the looks of the hgt abarth but the potential of the Gt still makes me love them. Could anyone give me an insight, i.e which are more reliable

20k is the wrong oil your meant to ignore your hand book and put selenia performer 5w/30 in it or the replacement for that 5w/40 wide range also under the performer name 20k 10w/40 is wrong for any fiat 16v engine especially those with timing variators any fiat tech will tell you this my dads has been sounding like a diesel for over a year now on start-up and has got no worse once the oil
