The lens features internal seals to prevent dust and water from intruding, and a quick look at the back of the lens shows a generous rubber gasket around the bayonet mount. The EF24-105mm f/4L IS II USM comes with a new Air Sphere Coating (ASC) that is capable of reducing flare and ghosting considerably. While the predecessor, EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM, often produced unwanted coloured ghosting when shooting a bright light source, this is reduced by a large extent on the new lens.

The vignetting characteristic of the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM is quite similar to its Canon DSLR counterpart, and much better than the Sony FE 24-105mm f/4 G OSS or Nikon Z 24-70mm f/4 S. The Canon lens suffers from the greatest amount of vignetting at 24mm and 105mm, where it is about 2.5 stops and 2.1 stops respectively.
